Top 10 Week - Best Characters of 2011!

A Week of Looking Back…and Looking Forward.

Today's Post: Best Characters of 2011!

As I said yesterday, I'm going to cheat a little so I can add in some more book boyfriend crushes. I was originally going to post 10 heroines I love but I decided to post favourite book 'couples' so to speak. Best of both worlds!

So, here it goes..

*Again, these are in no particular order*

1. Cat & Bones

I love these two! Even though I said this list is not in order, Cat & Bones will ALWAYS be at the top! Jeaniene Frost is an amazingly talented writer. She could not have crafted a better hero & heroine! Cat is kick ass and grows so much during the books. Bones is the definition of lust, love, & loyalty. *Sigh* What I wouldn't give to be his 'kitten' <3

2. Mac & Barrons

First of all, I can't believe I didn't read this series until this year! MacKayla goes from a whiny little b*tch to a total badass over the course of the five books. I went from hating her to loving her. JZB? I didn't get the appeal at first but like Mac he grew on me as well. Why I consider them a top ten couple? The tension Moning creates between these two is parallel to none.

 3. Katsa & Po

Quote: “I know you don't want this, Katsa. But I can't help myself. The moment you came barreling into my life I was lost. I'm afraid to tell you what I wish for, for fear you'll... oh, I don't know, throw me into the fire. Or more likely, refuse me. Or worst of all, despise me," he said, his voice breaking and his eyes dropping from her face. His face dropping into his hands. "I love you," he said. "You're more dear to my heart than I ever knew anyone could be. And I've made you cry; and there I'll stop.”

4. Fire & Brigan

Quote: “Brigan was saying her name, and he was sending her a feeling. It was courage and strength, and something else too, as if he were standing with her, as if he'd taken her within himself, letting her rest her entire body for a moment on his backbone, her mind in his mind, her heart in the fire of his.
The fire of Brigan's heart was astounding. Fire understood, and almost could not believe, that the feeling he was sending her was love.”

5. Yelena & Valek

I absolutely love Yelena and Valek's relationship. It's one of those relationships that makes you feel for both of them. You come to love them both as main characters. When Valek calls Yelena "love" it gives me chills. Damn, he is so sexy and Yelena is an amazing heroine.

6. Merit & Ethan

Quote: “You can run. You can keep running to the ends of the earth. But I won’t be far behind you.”

“Ethan—”

“No. I will never be far behind you.” He tipped up my chin so that I could do nothing else but look back into his eyes. “Do the things you need to do. Learn to be a vampire, to be a warrior, to be the soldier you are capable of being. But consider the possibility that I made a mistake I regret—and that I’ll continue to regret that mistake and try to convince you to give me another chance until the earth stops turning.”

7. Eugenie & Dorian

Even tho at the end of Storm Born, Eugenie and Dorian are not really a "couple" per say, I love the tension between them. Their wit and banter is amazing. I think Dorian is super sexy and I hope she ends up with him.

8. Rose & Dimitri

This quote says it all:

"That I do still love you."
With that one sentence, everything in the universe changed.

I love Rose and Dimitri. They went to hell and back for each other.

9.Abby & Travis

Their relationship is so real. I find it so different from most of the couples I have listed above. They go through so much turmoil together to get to where they are in the end. They really are a "Beautiful Disaster"

10. Tris & Four

Quote:  “I have something I need to tell you," he says. I run my fingers along the tendons in his hands and look back at him. "I might be in love with you." He smiles a little. "I'm waiting until I'm sure to tell you, though."
"That's sensible of you," I say, smiling too. "We should find some paper so you can make a list or a chart or something."
I feel his laughter against my side, his nose sliding along my jaw, his lips pressing my ear.
"Maybe I'm already sure," he says, "and I just don't want to frighten you."
I laugh a little. "Then you should know better."
"Fine," he says. "Then I love you.”

Such a sweet couple! <3 Love them.

Top 10 of 2011:
A Week of Looking Back…and Looking Forward.

Today's Post: Best Book Boyfriends of 2011!
Okay, this list was by far the hardest for me to do! Seriously? ONLY 10! So... I cheated a little. Just a little. Today, I will post 10 book boyfriends from books I read in 2011 (not necessarily published in 2011), and then tomorrow for the "character post" I'm going to post "best book couples"...thus allowing me to post 20 hot guys instead of 10. Ain't I crafty? Plus, my fav heroines will also get the spotlight!

Anyhoo, here are my Top 10 Book Boyfriends from Books Read in 2011!!! (and what a year it was for hot bad boys... *fans self* )

*These are not in order. It was hard enough to stick to 10! Put them in order? No, sorry. No can do.*

1. Vlad Tepesh from This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

2. Alex Fuentes from Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

3. Archer Cross from Hex Hall & Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins

4. Eric Northman from The Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris

5. Prince Ash from The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

6. Adrian Ivashkov  from Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

7. Ian from Jeaniene Frost's Short Story: Home for the Holidays

8. James Stark from Awakened by P.C. Cast & Kristen Cast

9.  Patch Cipraino from Hush Hush, Crescendo, and Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

10. Lucas Ross from Evernight & Stargazer by Claudia Gray

Mmm, and there you have it.
Tomorrow -10 more. And I still left a few out. =P

"For a few minutes we kiss, deep in the chasm, with the roar of water all around us. And we rise, hand in hand, I realize that if we had both chosen differently, we might have ended up doing the same thing, in a safer place, in gray clothes instead of black ones.”

null

“And then he gives me a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushes through me.”

null

“I know part of what turns me on so hard, makes me so violent with lust, is that he's dangerous. I fell for the bad guy. I'm crazy about the one who's trouble. The alpha that doesn't play well with others and doesn't take orders from anyone.”

null

“I’ll tell you something about true love. There’s no science to it. It’s as natural as the sky.”

null

"You’re the one thing I’ve got right. You’re what I’ve been waiting for, Pigeon.”

null

"You possess other people's...bodies."

He accepted that statement with a nod.

"Do you want to possess my body?"

"I want to do a lot of things to your body, but that's not one of them”

null

"I'll teach you how to defend yourself, how to maim a man. We can use Po as a model.'

'Wonderful,' Po said. 'It's quite boring really, the way you beat me to death with your hands and feet, Katsa. It'll be refreshing to have you come at me with a knife.”

null

“Makin' mistakes ain't a crime, you know. What's the use of having a reputation if you can't ruin it every now and then?”

null

“Yelena, you've driven me crazy. You've caused me considerable trouble and I've contemplated ending your life twice since I've known you...but you slipped under my skin, invaded my blood and seized my heart.”

null

“That took balls."

"Please," I said with a snort, "that took ovaries. Of which I have two.”

Review - The Bite Before Christmas by Lynsay Sands & Jeaniene Frost

No comments:
The Bite Before Christmas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This anthology contained two novellas!

Home for the Holidays by Jeaniene Frost

Summary:
Cat and Bones are looking forward to a normal holiday—at least as “normal” as it gets for the combustible vampire couple and their otherworldly friends and family. But their yuletide plans are shattered when a stranger shows up and reveals long-buried family secrets that threaten to take a bite out of their holiday cheer . . . and lives.

My Rating: 5+ STARS!
Jeaniene never fails to please! I love her characters, her writing style, her wit, and her talent at making everything she writes an absolute page turner!

* * *

The Gift by Lynsay Sands

Summary:
Teddy Brunswick knows about the immortals among us. He’s worked with them, called them friend—but he never counted on being snowed in with one over Christmas. Katricia Argeneau is a tasty little bundle and she seems to feel the same way about him. Problem is, he’s not sure she feels quite the same way. After all, the snowstorm has derailed her blood delivery, which leaves him the only available meal on the menu. . . .

My Rating: 4 STARS
This was my first time reading something by Lynsay Sands. I can't say I loved it (I didn't get the wow feeling) but overall it was a cute little story. I do like a happy ending! I was a bit weary of an older male character but it was still a decent story!

Review - The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

No comments:
The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I REALLY liked this book.

Meghan is an awesome narrator, Puck is hilarious, and in spite of some things I will not mention due to spoilers, Prince Ash is swoonworthy.

I loved the authors descriptions of the 'fairyworld'. Everything was described so vividly from the many landscapes to the interesting creatures.

A great read, I highly recommend! I will be reading the next book very soon!

First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! First of all, this is definitely being added to my favorites!

Charley is a witty, smart & kick-butt heroine! I love her as a narrator! I love when a book packed with action and mystery can still make you laugh!

The mystery surrounding the hot male lead, Reyes, kept me guessing right to the very last page! Sexy and mysterious, what more can a girl want?

and Cookie, well I'd totally love to have her as a best friend! :)

If you like fantasy, romance and wit, I highly recommend! This was an awesome read!

Graceling (The Seven Kingdoms Trilogy, #1)Graceling by Kristin Cashore

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book. The writing was flawless in my opinion. The characters were very well written and I took to Katsa quickly. The plot was slightly predictable but very enjoyable.

Though the characters are young, and the book is classified as YA, it doesn't have a young adult feel. The characters are very mature.

I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read Fire. Kristin has created an amazing world with the Seven Kingdoms!
