Cover Wars is a weekly meme started by Danielle @ Book Whore where she puts two similar book covers up against each other..
I've modified it slightly as I have put up two different covers of the same book.
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.
By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.
As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.
Which one do you like better?
I like the American cover (the first one) the best. I honestly don't know why.. It just catches my eye more I guess!

I totally agree with you, Tiffany. I really like the first cover, with the girl and her reflection in the water, that also seems like a different person. While the right cover gives more the feel of three beautiful girls that somehow form a group and that strange logo behind them. I also read this book and think the first cover fits the story better, but that's just my opinion :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tiff and Lolita! :) I like the first one more, I guess it's because I read the book and somehow find it more fitting? Sure those three pretty girls are important too, but the first one gives off a more Sophie-vibe
ReplyDeleteI agree too the first one just seems to fit the book better
ReplyDeleteI also prefer the first cover. It's very different and catches my eye!
ReplyDeleteOk I'm sorry but I'm going to be akward and say I prefer the second one better lol. I already did before I saw your comments. The first one is good too.
ReplyDeleteBut going from the point of view of someone who hasn't read the book (i.e. me!) I find the second one more intreaguing and would make me want to pick it up more. I think its because of their shadows that look like devils and witches and stuff... its quirky! What country's cover is that anyway?
That's the UK one I believe :P I liked the shadow thing too :)
